Nuclear measurements and ionising radiation
Measurement is fundamental to the prevention approach adopted by the CERAP Group. With our operational knowledge of our customers' industrial and environmental challenges, we implement rigorous radiological and physico-chemical measurements:
- As part of the delegated operation of analysis laboratories on our customers' sites.
- In our own radiological testing, measurement and analysis laboratory in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (France).
- In situ on your equipment, packages or premises, to meet the standards and regulatory requirements to which you are subject.
- Tailor-made by designing, building and operating dedicated measurement systems to meet the metrological constraints specific to each requirement.
ATRON Metrology's testing, measurement and analysis laboratory uses state-of-the-art sampling and measurement equipment to meet a wide range of needs, including contamination testing, environmental monitoring and nuclear waste characterisation.
All the laboratory's services are carried out in accordance with the requirements of ISO/CEI 17025 concerning the competence of calibration and testing laboratories, guaranteeing the reliability of the results delivered and the optimisation of detection limits.
The laboratory accepts most alpha-, beta- and gamma-emitting radionuclides, and takes full responsibility for the management of nuclear waste generated by its activities.
CERAP Prévention takes charge of the complete operation of physico-chemical and/or radiological analysis laboratories, enabling it to meet the normative and regulatory requirements of an installation's operator.
Depending on requirements, we take charge of defining and validating analysis methods, as well as defining, supplying, installing and maintaining analytical equipment in operational conditions.
These services are provided by organisations that ensure compliance with customer requirements and, where necessary, with the ISO/CEi 17025 standard.
We manage the resources needed to guarantee reliable results, while offering the operator greater flexibility, cost optimisation and access to specialist technical skills.
Starting with production equipment for generic use, CERAP Prevention's engineers :
- Design mechanical systems
- Dimension the shielding
- Adapt detectors and electronics
- Develop interface software and much more
This upstream work results in a customised characterisation chain whose performance is optimised for very specific uses, such as use at 20m underwater, in a highly irradiating environment, or for a particular type of waste.
The analysis of measurement results is fully automated, enabling any user, even those with no expertise, to use the equipment.
ATRON Metrology has acquired recognised expertise in the fields of radiation-matter interaction and nuclear measurement. Using Monte-Carlo modelling or customised tests, we help you to understand the physical and chemical phenomena involved and to optimise your processes.
Our experts also help to run tailor-made training courses at ATRON Metrology and in higher education establishments:
- Radiological characterisation of samples.
- Detection systems and metrology.
- Effects of irradiation on matter.
- Use of industrial accelerators for non-destructive testing.
